Alternators are used to recharge the battery to supply electrical loads in powering
the vehicle. For Mazda MPV, alternators are made up of a pulley, rectifier assembly,
immovable set of stators or windings, a spinning kit which includes electrical
windings or rotors and a brush set which serve as an electrical bridge to maintain
connection with the rotors. Aluminum housing encased these parts except the pulley.
Recent products include electronically charged regulators.
To ensure efficient function, alternators should be regularly checked specially
the belt and spring. Defect in these parts can reduce the amount of current and
voltage produced. This can cause poor performance and repeated engine failures.
